Bawlf Lions Club


-The Bawlf and District Lions Club was founded in 1981. The Lions are volunteer service group whose aim is” to take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community they serve.”

-The Bawlf and District Lions Club meets the second and fourth Monday of each month.  We raise funds and provide volunteer labour to support local programs and facilities and provide financial support to a wide variety of charity organizations.

-The Bawlf and District Lions Club raises and contributes approximately $20,000 annually to various community initiatives as well as numerous hours of volunteer labour.

Recent Provincial funding initiatives include:
STARS (The Alberta Lions Clubs were the main financial sponsors of the initial STARS program)
Lions Diabetes Education Program
Donations to Camp HE-HO-HA, CNIB, Cancer Walk, Ronald McDonald House. Stollery Children’s Centre, Juvenile Diabetes, and sight and hearing research

National/International Initiatives include financial support for:
Dog Guides Canada (free support dogs for people with hearing loss, epilepsy, PSTD etc.
Leader Dogs for the Blind (training of service dogs for the blind)
Lions Club International Foundation which provide support for community disasters, medical research, medical services such as vaccinations and family health support in third wold countries, Sight for Life which provides eye glasses and eye surgery in underprivileged areas of the world

We need your help
We welcome members of the community to join our club to help with the work we do. Much of what we have accomplished is due to past community support.We need continuing community support of our regular fundraising activities which include Mother’s Day Breakfast, Grey Cup Pool and Casinos.If you are interested in joining our club or volunteering to assist us in our various community initiatives please talk to any Lions member.
